Regular Monthly Meeting

Tuesday, May 22, 2007                     7:30 PM                Princeville Village Hall

The Village Board met at the above time and place.
The meeting was called to order by Acting president Sutherland @ 7:30 PM with the following Trustees answering present; Sutherland, Rasmussen, Koller, Barrington and Knapp. Trustee Troutman was called away for an emergency just prior to the meeting. A quorum was present for the meeting. Others present for the meeting were Village Clerk Rasmussen, Supt. of Public Works Gardner, and Police officer Breitbarth.

Police report: A Burglary of a business had occurred; An Arrest for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol and Driving under the influence of alcohol was made; it is suggested that a parking ordinance be written against
Vehicles wider than 8 feet parking on residential streets, making it a safety hazard for other vehicles to pass.

Citizens Group: The concerned citizens think that the Dangerous premises and Condemned buildings ordinance needs to published in the newspaper. This is a large expense, which is not likely to happen. It is thought that education is a key to solving this problem, and starting with Business area and then residential areas.

Maintenance building contracts: Motion by Rasmussen with a second by Barrington to award the building contract to Gilliam Structures for $34,951.00 with the overhead doors to be installed by another contractor. Roll call vote. Sutherland, Rasmussen, Koller, Barrington and Knapp all voting aye. No nays. Motion passed. Motion by Rasmussen with a second by Koller to award the concrete contract to Lopez Construction of Illinois, for $6,566.00. Roll call vote. Sutherland, Rasmussen, Koller, Barrington and Knapp all voting aye. No nays. Motion passed.

Road closing for Heritage Days: Resolution to close Santa Fe from Spring St. to North St. from
Wednesday June 20, 2007. Until 12:00 Noon June 24, 2007. In addition, close the 100 bk of W Evans St., 100 bk. Of W Main St., 100 bk of N Tremont Ave., 100 bk of E Main St…Motion by Rasmussen and a second by Barrington to have the resolution sent to, and approved by IDOT.
Motion by Koller to make a donation in the amount of $3500.00 to PCA for the promotion of Heritage Days, with a second by Barrington. Roll call vote. Sutherland, Koller, voting aye. Knapp voting Nay. Rasmussen and Barrington abstaining from the vote. VOTE NOT PASSING.
Motion by Koller with a second by Knapp to donate to PCA for Heritage Days in the amount of $3500.00. Roll call vote. Sutherland, Koller, Knapp all voting aye. No nays. Rasmussen and Barrington abstaining from the vote. Motion Passed.

Construction of tents: Leonard Tilson wants to construct a tent cover in his yard and the location must be in a back yard and meet set back guidelines. A building permit application needs to file with the zoning officer.

Committee reports: Property committee - TIF Project revitalization - three applications have been requested by businesses.

Permits OK’ed by Pres. Stahl, Pub Works Supt. Gardner & Zoning officer Hyde.

Truck purchase:  Motion by Koller with a second by Knapp to purchase a State Bid truck from International Truck Co. for a cost not to exceed $50,429.00 and Paid out of TIF funds. Roll call vote. Sutherland, Rasmussen, Koller, Barrington and Knapp all voting aye. No nays. Motion passed. Motion by Koller and second by Knapp to purchase a stainless truck package for the previous said truck at a cost not to exceed $46,771.00 from Koenig Truck Equipment Co. and to be paid for with a 6% Loan from the Princeville State Bank. This brings the total for the truck, spreader, box and plow to $97,200.00 and must be ordered before May 30, 2007. The truck is to be red in color.

Budget for 2007-2008: Next meeting.

Other business: Deputy Breitbarth request a donation in the Sheriff’s Department name to a benefit that He works for each year “St. Jude’s. Motion by Koller second by Sutherland to donate $300.00 to St. Jude’s Benefit. Roll call vote. Sutherland, Rasmussen, Koller, Barrington and Knapp all voting aye. No nays.
Motion passed.

Adjournment: Motion by Koller with a second by Barrington to adjourn the meeting.
Acting President Sutherland adjourned the meeting at 9:55 PM.
